I was just thinking …. Is it true, life is hard and then you die?

Now that I have your attention, is it true that life is hard and then you die? Well, think about it.  People from all walks of life can have it hard. Statistically speaking, most people around the world are having a tough time. Many are having a life threatening tough time.

Life can also have its losses. Jobs, friends, spouses, finances, loved ones and even your health.

Even the greatest, holiest, godliest people in the Bible suffered through tough times, heartaches and losses.

To answer my own question, it is not true! There is more to life than difficulty and death. You can have a life of joy and peace, comfort and happiness in Jesus Christ.

Here are three thoughts to help you in difficult times.

1.) God does not spare His people from the hardships of this world, Matt. 5:45

a. Hardships are a part of this sin cursed world. Live in long enough and you are bound to receive some of it.

b. Hardships may be the consequences of our bad decisions

c. Hardships may be God disciplining us. They are not meant as meanness, or to drive us away or to destroy us. Instead hardships can be used of God to bring us back to Him.

2.) God does give us plenty of guidance about how to avoid some of the hardships of this world

a. Finances: You can’t out give God, so be faithful with a tithe and an offering, be wise with your resources and God will pour you out a blessing you can’t receive!

b. Marriage: Don’t stop at “love til it hurts” but rather love unto death. Would you die for your spouse? If not, you don’t love them enough!!

c. Children: They need discipline and training – Read the book of Proverbs

d. Other relationships: The golden rule, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!

3.) God shows us how to navigate thru what can’t be avoided

a. Trust God: He never leaves or forsakes us. He is always dependable

b. Have Faith: God rules supreme in the daylight and darkness. Trust His direction, He will not lead you astray.

c. Confess and repent of your sins: This prepares your heart and life for the blessings of life

d. Listen to the Holy Spirit: He is our teacher, guide and comforter

e. Learn and live the Bible – Word of God: Be obedient to the commands and principles of God’s Word – it will never let you down.

Naomi is a principle character from the Old Testament book of Ruth. She had a promising life that turned disastrous and tragic. Yet thru it all God was with her. From death, defeat and destitution – God brought her to purpose, love, peace and provided for. What God did for Naomi He can do for you!
