I was just thinking … we need to pray for each other more often!

Recently our church was blessed with a Facebook page. (Blessed because another dear saint keeps up! That’s also why there are no misspelled words on it. Just keep reading and you’ll see what I mean!) On this Eva Drive Baptist Church Facebook Page there is a place for prayer requests.

I guess what strikes me as odd or sad about this is that we can see needs, hurts and the lostness of people all around us. Yet to get us to pray for them people have to “request” us to do so. Now I know that there are times that without a request we would not know how or what to pray for, and we might not even know that there was a reason we should be praying for others. But, the question is, do you and I really pray when we know?!

Everyone should have a regular time talk with and fellowship with God. Praying is more than asking God for things for ourselves and our families. It’s a conversation with God. It’s fellowship with our Heavenly Father! It’s worship, praise, awe, respect, and honor to our Creator. It’s also interceding on behalf of others.

Do you pray? Do you talk to God? Do you listen as He talks?

Would you take a few minutes today to talk with the Lord? Would you listen as He talks? And would you intercede, that is, pray for someone else? There are people who are lost, separated from God, some folks have heartaches, some have addictions, some have sorrows, some are tired, lonely, hungry, or abused. So many people, so many needs. Your prayer may be just what they need. Would you pray today?

Here are some Scriptures to help get you started: Matthew 6:9; 26:41  Philipians 1:9  Colossians 1:9 and I Thessalonians 5:17
